Women's History Month: Celebrating Women in Finance

Happy Women’s History Month! This month, we celebrate the achievements and contributions of women all over the world. And while there is still a long way to go for gender equality, we want to take a moment to celebrate the women who have made a mark in the finance industry. Here are some inspiring stories of women in finance who have broken barriers, shattered glass ceilings, and paved the way for future generations.

  1. Abigail Johnson: Abigail Johnson is the CEO of Fidelity Investments, one of the largest financial services companies in the world. She started working at Fidelity in 1988 and worked her way up through the ranks to become CEO in 2014. She is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Financial Services Roundtable.

  2. Sallie Krawcheck: Sallie Krawcheck is the CEO and co-founder of Ellevest, an investment platform designed for women. She has been a top executive at several major financial institutions, including Bank of America, Citigroup, and Merrill Lynch. She is also a frequent commentator on financial news and has been recognized as one of the most powerful women in business by Forbes and Fortune.

  3. Adena Friedman: Adena Friedman is the CEO of Nasdaq, the second-largest stock exchange in the world. She started her career at Nasdaq in 1993 and worked her way up through the ranks to become CEO in 2017. She is also a member of the World Economic Forum's International Business Council.

  4. Mellody Hobson: Mellody Hobson is the co-CEO of Ariel Investments, one of the largest African American-owned investment firms in the US. 5. Janet Yellen: Janet Yellen is an economist and the first woman to serve as Chair of the Federal Reserve, the central bank of the US. She served as Chair from 2014 to 2018 and was the first woman to hold the position in the Fed's 100-year history. She has also served as the President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.

These women have broken barriers and paved the way for future generations of women in finance. They have shown that women can be successful in even the most male-dominated industries and have inspired countless women to pursue careers in finance. But there is still a long way to go for gender equality in the finance industry and beyond.

For Women’s History Month, let's celebrate the achievements of these women and continue to fight for a world where gender equality is the norm, not the exception. Together, we can create a better and more equal future for all women. Happy Women’s History Month!
